We want buying a Landrover from John Brown to be a relaxing, stress free procedure. As such, we offer a variety of payment methods including (most popular, fee free and simple) bank transfers, paypal (you must pay the charges), cash or cheques (allow seven days for clearing). You can reserve the Landrover of your choice via a 10 % non-refundable deposit (although it is transferable to another vehicle ), with the balance payable before collection/delivery. This deposit will reserve your vehicle for a period of seven days, after which time the balance is payable. Collection/delivery must be taken within a further seven days. Storage of your vehicle after this time is charged at £20 per day plus VAT. Many customers (over 95%) elect to buy their Landrover unseen, safe in the knowledge that the company makes honest appraisals of each vehicle. We can supply details of  a reputable firm who will be able to assist in delivery to your door, at reasonable rates.  Of course, if you wish to collect your vehicle this is fine too. Please remember though that these vehicles are generally very old, and as such can be unpredicable. It is always a good idea to have RAC or AA cover if you plan to drive home. That said, we have had only two breakdowns from all the hundreds of  Landrovers driven away (a split hose, and an electrical fault), and some vehicles have been driven many hundreds of miles across Europe!
Vintage Landrovers are a joy to own and run, but it must be understood that some vehicles we sell are approaching 60 years old,which is a testament to their original build quality. This does mean however, that they are not as refined as a modern car. They do not have power steering, and many do not have brake servos. All old Landrovers will have something that can be improved upon, however good they look. The beauty of this is the opportunity for customers to add value, and customize their vehicles as and when they wish. All our Landrovers are priced in accordance with their condition…..A Landrover in the higher price categories will obviously be of a generally higher standard and specification to our more keenly priced vehicles….. Parts availability is excellent, and are generally very cheap to both purchase and fit. If you have not driven a vintage Landrover before, we recommend you come and try! All our vehicles are supplied with a good length MOT, in which we put our faith. We also inspect each vehicle via our in house 27 point check, which is designed to give you extra peace of mind.If you have a vehicle to part exchange we will try our best to help.

We do not offer warranties with our Landrovers, as this would add to the cost of each vehicle. Instead, as a respected company committed to excellent customer saisfaction, we stand by the vehicles we sell. On the rare occasion that a problem is encountered, we always strive to help where we can. This may come in the form of  free advice, the offer to send replacement parts etc etc. We strive to treat our customers in the fairest way possible, as our reputation is important to us.

Which Landrover will suit me?

Everyone has different needs, and as such we can talk you through which Landrover may be most suitable for you, even if we don’t stock it! It can be a good idea to look at previously sold stock, which can be found through the www.carandclassic.co.uk website under JOHN BROWN LANDROVERS. This will give you an idea of which model you like the look of, then we can discuss the pros and cons! Our advice is always impartial, and free of course.

Just wanted to let you know how I was getting on with my landrover. I love her and she runs really well, we have put her through a Manx test and she passed first time so she now has new Reg plates. We want to join the 4 x 4 IOM landrover club but I really don’t want to be doing much offroading as I don’t want to spoil her. I wasn’t sure how I’d get on driving a landrover but I really enjoy it…
